Who needs Cable TV when you've got ‘Chuch’ ??

By the way, for those who don't understand why I don't have 'Cable' or any TV service for that matter: Who needs it when I can just look at what 'Chuch (purposely spelled) Folk' do, for all the real life drama that I could possibly want and then some... Since for the most part, dudes want power, they act like ' Mad Men’ , and it's always some ‘Game of Thrones’ type thing, when you watch these pastors on their money grab, and since they've got ‘Criminal Minds’ someone’s always ‘Breaking Bad’ with somebody who they shouldn't be with, resulting in some ‘Scandal’ or the other. The people who go to these places get trapped ‘Under the Dome’ and the Pastor becomes their ‘Person of Interest’ or their ‘American Idol’ , and the Pastor takes the place of God. The Preaching stays ‘Elementary’ so that they can entertain and grow ‘The Following’ , putting up ‘Pretty Little Liars’ who tell the folk just what their itching ears want to hear, since th...

A brief (and ongoing) study on the doctrine of election...

Image
Blessings family, The following pages are the result of a conversation which occurred during our church’s Bible Study one evening in March of 2011. It is an elucidation of our understanding of the doctrine of election, its distinctives and how we should (if at all) approach this in terms of our testimony, and the sharing of the Gospel. Please be advised that i tend to use the names YHWH, for the Father God, and Yahshuah for Jesus. Why isn’t our testimony enough? First let me say that your testimony does not equal the Gospel. While your testimony can be used as a toll in the sharing of your faith, and as a part of the overall evangelistic endeavor, it cannot be used in place of, or even as a supplement to, the Gospel message. This is because of the following problem: The weight of one person’s experience in a qualitative sense is the same as that of any other person’s. Put bluntly, 5 pounds of gold weighs just as much as 5 pounds of dung. So then the differentiating factor is ...

14 days ago, I went back 27 years

So folks have been asking, so I'll put it out there. 40 odd days ago, my wife and I began to walk in the mornings. Those of you who have been following the journey have been keeping up with our updates, and encouraging us. It means more than you know... 14 days ago, I went back 27 years. What does that mean? in the 80's, I was a vegetarian, following a set of religious beliefs that I now know where erroneous. While I have not picked the beliefs back up, I have returned to the diet. My daughter joined me 7 days ago. We are waiting on my wife. What do I mean by vegetarian? If it is capable of independent movement, be it walking, running, swimming, flying or crawling, (or has the potential to) I do not eat it. Yes, I who have been know to have 'a bowl of bacon' , no longer touch the stuff. Additionally, I now avoid processed food as much as I can, with the basic rule of thumb that if I cannot recognize what it grew out of the ground as, I won't eat it. The...

The Life Cycle of the average Church?

Where in the cycle do you see yourself, or your church? I have found in my studies that we (churches, though this formula also holds true in organizations, even cults) tend to follow the same pattern. A pattern that God desires to break us out of: 1) The Revelation/Impartation It begins with a life changing encounter with God, or a vision imparted. 2) The Sharing/Telling The sharing of the vision then begins. Whether it be preaching, or in song, or however, the dissemination of the message begins 3) The Gathering The anointing of God, the lure of the vision, and the charisma/integrity of the visionary begins to draw people. Those who have caught the vision now begin to meet together, praying/praising/worshipping... It is the upper room time, leading up to the day of Pentecost 4) The Institutionalization Gradually, we come to believe that a certain formalization of the organization is necessary. We then set about the task of 'building' the church/movement 5) The Ritualization We...

Time to refocus

All the pre-election hype and hysteria has had me pre-occupied and off track. But I, like Dorothy, The Tin Man, The Cowardly Lion and The ScareCrow, have awakened from the (un)pleasant reverie, and it is now back to what is important... What is really important : GOD IS HOLY!! Donnie McClurkin - HOLY I will lift my voice and I will sing Holy, Holy To my Lord and Savior, my God and king I will sing Holy, Holy I will praise the lamb of God who sits upon the throne I will worship Him and give the praise to Him alone He who was and is and is to come I will sing before His throne forever, forever All the angels sing, they bow down, and they say Holy, Holy We, Your sons and daughters, we praise You now And we cry Holy, Holy I will praise the lamb of God who sits upon the throne I will worship Him and give the praise to Him alone He who was and is and is to come I will sing before His throne forever, forever…
